Felted merino wool / Rust-printed silk
A rust-printed yellow silk fabric. It forms a path that descends from the ceiling to the floor like ‘a slow current’. Rust printing is a chemical process during which old iron objects that had been discarded as useless, leave their imprint on a noble fabric such as silk, transforming it into a rough, dull fabric that regains all its beauty when washed.
This piece talks about the passing of life towards its end, like an unstoppable current that takes you towards a destination; it talks about the beauty of the transformation that we all inevitably undergo, and that leads us to become what we will finally be.
Behind this silk hides an almost transparent felt hand pierced by light, which seems to be coming apart. It speaks of loneliness, of our need for others, of the path travelled together, of how other people transform you and complete you.
